When more life lingers behind than before, our thoughts tend to wander to and fro; but there was a time, when we only considered to look forward.

Interesting. Note that it isn't an issue about time. Many older people have or feel like they have still more before them while sometimes younger folks get caught up in their present and can only claim to what was accomplished or what happened in the past.
